What is the Writer's Breakaway?
Each Writer's Breakaway Weekend is limited to 8 writers, in order to provide plenty of one-on-one time for each author. We are looking for committed authors of quality Christian manuscripts from many genres: fiction, non-fiction, biography, travel, historical, theological, child & family, poetry, and more. Here is how it works:
- Please apply here and send us your manuscript or a sample of your writing project.
- After reviewing each submission, the writing staff will select 8 people who qualify for the Breakaway Weekend and notify all applicants of their decision.
- Before the seminar, the entire staff will read your material for critical evaluation.
- During the seminar, there will be a combination of group sessions as well as individual one-on-one sessions.
- The Breakaway Weekend starts Friday at 4:00pm and ends on Sunday at 12 noon.
The Author's Breakaway is a wonderful way to dive into your own writing style and discover where your writing skills and style need work. You will also learn techniques on how to get your manuscript in front of senior editors and other "decision makers" in the publishing world. The combination of one-on-one sessions, group brainstorming, and personal quiet time in our serene mountainesque setting is ideal!
